In the demo video shown below, I created a controller to command the MOOG 6DOF platform using flight controls (collective, pedals and stick). The visuals are fed to Microsoft Flight Simulator which have been networked together with a LabView real-time controller.
While working for the diving unit at DRDC, I created an absorption spectroscopy based oxygen sensor. I used a miniature laser to send a varying frequency signal though a sample of gas. By analyzing the received signal, I could measure the amount of oxygen content present in my sample.
This was one of my very first hardware projects. Using a laptop's parallel port, I created a communication interface to two stepper motors used to adjust an XY table. I wrote a DOS program that would automatically move the XY stage in different patterns so that glue could be dispensed onto microscope slides.
